Anthony Green’s Fall Tour Review

September 11th, 2016 by Megan Washington

Anthony Green just released a new album a few days ago titled, Pixie Queen. The fall tour looks to highlight the newly released tracks that fans have been anticipating for numerous years.

We attended the Ybor City, FL stop of the Pixie Queen Tour. The stage set up was simple, but perfect with the quaint atmosphere the Orpheum offers. The crowd slowly expanded from the time doors opened until right before Green jumped on the stage–packing the space tightly and filling the air with immense anticipation.

There was an eclectic mix of songs played from all three previous albums, with a heavy concentration on fan favorites from the first album including “She Loves Me So” and “Dear Child (I’ve Been Dying to Reach You).” Naturally, new songs like “You’ll Be Fine,” “A Reason to Stay,” and “East Coast Winters” were also played during the set. In all, Green played about 16 to 17 songs which pleased the enthusiastic audience.

Unlike other shows that I have attended, Green seemed as if he was hanging out with the crowd while just doing something he loved–kinda like that one friend showing off their wickedly amazing talent. It wasn’t about Green just playing to get through the set, he seemed like he just enjoyed sharing his passion and was appreciative that people wanted to listen to him. There was a group of girls toward the middle center of the crowd which Green deemed “The Horny Section,” that he proclaimed made him uncomfortable and another particular area where a group of friends seemed to be dedicated fans that kept screaming out titles of Circa Survive songs they wished for him to play. At one point, one of the men in the crowd passed Green a napkin with a message on it. Green read the napkin to himself and then shared, “It’s a love note,” before stashing it in his pocked. Surprisingly, Green had fun with it and started singing a song he came up with on the spot for the man. The tune was quite slow and the lyrics mentioned, “Beautiful boy…” The song was pretty epic and lasted about a minute. Definitely a night that man and his friends will never forget.

All in all, check out the Pixie Queen Tour when it comes to your city. Green will be showcasing a variety of songs from previous records as well as the newly released Pixie Queen while also providing you with a great hangout session. If you can’t have fun at the Pixie Queen Tour, you should revaluate your priorities.
