The Neighbourhood & The 1975 Show Review

June 11, 2013
By: Chris Lampkins

Three hours before doors opened was the first sign of fans awaiting to see the sold out show of The 1975 and The Neighbourhood in Orlando on June 11th. The sea of fans anxiously awaited for the doors to begin to open so they could claim the best spot in the small venue–The Social. The doors opened promptly at 8pm and everybody rushed in. Just before the clock hit 9pm the lights dimmed and the hot, sticky crowd went wild.

The 1975 rushed out; you could feel the adrenaline from the band throughout the room. The crowd knew every word to each of their songs and sang them at the top of their lungs. The band even admitted that they didn’t expect so much crowd participation. The 1975 played a mixture of oldies and new songs off their self titled album. The band stayed energetic throughout their 45 minute set and ended with the song, “You.” The band’s new album will be dropping in September so be on the lookout for that.

Next up was The Neighbourhood. As soon as The 1975 ended their set, the crowd began their impatient wait for The Neighbourhood to begin playing. Finally, after 20 minutes of setting everything up, the venue went black. The band started with the song, “How” off of their new album I Love You. The army of fans sang to every song while the band jumped all around the tiny stage; making sure they put on the best show. The Neighbourhood’s set was about an hour with them mostly playing songs off their new album–which by the way, you need to give it a spin if you have not already.

If you get the chance, go see these bands live or go buy their albums. It is well worth it and you wont be disappointed. Not a single soul in Orlando left without radiating the same excitement that the bands posessed on stage.
