Less Than Jake Announces West Coast Tour featuring Reel Big Fish

August 22nd, 2012 by Megan Washington

Less Than Jake announced today a set of new tour dates that will take the pioneering ska-punk band around the western United States and Canada. This latest batch of dates is the most recently announced leg of an ongoing, year-long tour in celebration of the band’s 20th anniversary. So far in 2012, the group has played shows in the northeast and east coast, in South America, the UK and Europe, and they have announced a midwest U.S. leg for September.

The October west coast tour is just over two weeks long and will feature direct support from Mad Caddies on four dates and Reel Big Fish on the last eight dates. Flatfoot 56 will open the entire 14-show run. The west coast dates are sandwiched between the band’s midwest tour, which features stops at three different Riot Fest dates (Toronto, Chicago, Dallas) and a highly anticipated seven shows in the U.K. on the “Road To Warped” tour with New Found Glory, The Story So Far and Man Overboard.

Keeping the ball rolling, Less Than Jake will release a new album titled Greetings and Salutations in October. The album will be comprised of the two previously released EPs Greetings From Less Than Jake and Season’s Greetings From Less Than Jake, along with two brand-new, unheard songs. The group will be testing out some new material this weekend when it plays the Reading and Leeds Festivals in the U.K., and more information about Greetings and Salutations will be available soon.

Less Than Jake recently put on a special art show during its Orlando show at the Beacham Theater on August 11. The art show featured 20 different custom Less Than Jake screenprinted posters celebrating the band’s illustrious career. These posters will be available for purchase again during the band’s back-to-back shows in its hometown of Gainesville, Fla., at the High Dive. The Gainesville performances will be broadcast via Stageit.com, where fans can exercise a pay-what-you-want option to watch the two shows. Each of the performances will feature an entirely different setlist spanning the band’s career.

Less Than Jake released seven full-length studio albums between 1995 and 2008, beginning with the adored Pezcore (1995), Losing Streak (1996) and Hello Rockview (1998). The 2000s saw Less Than Jake remain closer to its fans than ever before in its career, releasing Borders & Boundaries (2000), Anthem (2003), In With The Out Crowd (2006), and GNV FLA (2008). A myriad of EPs, singles and other releases have been littered throughout the group’s career, most recently encompassing the TV/EP (2010), the Greetings From Less Than Jake EP (2011), which accompanied the band’s performance on the entire 2011 Vans Warped Tour, and the Season’s Greetings From Less Than Jake EP (2012), which served as the grand kickoff to the band’s year-long 20th anniversary party.

Please post the tour dates below and announce the plans to release Greetings and Salutations in October. If you would like to interview Less Than Jake or write a feature, email Thomas Nassiff at exit384media@gmail.com. We can also set up coverage of any of the band’s upcoming tour dates.
