Joyce Manor Announce West Coast Dates with Against Me!, Updated Summer Tour Schedule

July 9th, 2012 by Megan Washington

If you haven’t heard of JOYCE MANOR yet, you’re probably doing it wrong. The Los Angeles pop punk quartet has popped up everywhere over the past three months, between the release of their stellar sophomore album, Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired (Asian Man Records), touring the US and billing at several huge festivals including Chaos in Tejas, FYF, Fest 11 and Music Fest NW. And if you haven’t paid attention to them yet, now’s your chance to make it right as the band has announced a ton of Summer tour dates that see them playing all over the country with the likes of Against Me!, Andrew Jackson Jihad and Algernon Cadwallader. Following this run of dates, the band will head over to Europe in the fall for their first tour overseas (all tour dates below).

“The opportunities we’ve been given since the new record came out have been really exciting, and I couldn’t be more excited for all the things we planned this year,” says bassist Matt Ebert. Already on its third pressing since its initial release in mid-April of this year, Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired has critics everywhere raving about the band. “Their impeccable songwriting and hardcore succinctness earn the band their distinction as awesome,” claims The Portland Mercury, while Alternative Press heralds, “On Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired, Joyce Manor accomplish in 13 minutes what takes lesser bands their whole careers to do. They both expand the current boundaries of their internet-chosen subgenre and push themselves into completely new sonic territory. The results are extraordinary.”

Their sophomore record is the follow-up to their 2011 self-titled full-length, released on 6131 Records. It was named Punknews’ 2011 Album of the Year as the buzz about the band quickly reached fever pitch everywhere from LA Weekly to AbsolutePunk. All this from a band who describes themselves as “four tired guys with a taste for bad chinese food, Thin Lizzy guitar solos and calling ‘shotgun’.”

Joyce Manor is Barry Johnson, Matt Ebert, Chase Knobbe, and Kurt Walcher. Of All Things I Will Soon Grow Tired was recorded at Atomic Garden Studios in Palo Alto, CA with Jack Shirley.
