Ballyhoo! release new Halo EP & music video today

June 17th, 2014 by Megan Washington

The reggae/rock band Ballyhoo! release their new EP Halo today via Right Coast Records – available now on iTunes and streaming on Spotify and MSN Music. The band has also teamed up with GuitarWorld to premiere the fan-created music video for the EP’s title track “Halo (Beautiful Day),” a song produced by the legendary John Feldmann (Neon Trees, Goldfinger, The Used). Check out the new music video, here:

The 3-track EP also features “The Lazy Song” (Bruno Mars cover) which the band offered for free with pre-order of the EP and immediately debuted at #6 on the iTunes Reggae charts. Feldmann brings out the band’s punk energy and pop reggae grooves to the track, reinforcing the band as a fan-loving powerhouse.

The band will celebrate the new release on their upcoming headlining #SuperHappyFunMoneyTour 2014 Summer Tour with support from fellow Maryland band Bumpin Uglies plus Arizona’s own Fayuca. The tour will run kick-off on July 18th in Cleveland, OH and take the band from the East Coast across the Midwest to California, back through Texas and Florida, then back home to the East Coast with a massive homecoming show with details TBA soon. The band’s summer dates also include massive gigs with some of the biggest names in the genre – 311, Matisyahu, Sublime with Rome and more.

This new 3-track EP is a follow-up to Ballyhoo!’s 5th studio album Pineapple Grenade. The band independently released the album on their own record label, Right Coast Records, in the summer of 2013 and broke through the Billboard Top 200 at #189 as well as reaching #4 Billboard Heatseekers and #5 at iTunes Alternative charts.

Pineapple Grenade features the single “No Good,” produced by Rome Ramirez (Sublime with Rome) and mixed by Paul Leary (U2, Sublime). The band followed up the single release with a sultry video premiere on The video was directed by Wes “Wuz Good” Armstrong (B.o.B, T-Pain, Flo Rida). Check out the video, here:

The first single “Run” saw an early radio add from KRAB Bakersfield and early radio spins by KROQ Los Angeles, WHFS Baltimore, KTCL Denver, and KCXX Riverside among others. Alongside the album release, BALLYHOO! co-headlined the 2013 Summer Sickness Tour with Authority Zero. Pineapple Grenade is the band’s follow-up to the 2011 LAW Records release of “Daydreams,” which debuted at #1 on the iTunes Reggae Charts and #4 on Amazon.

Between the road and the studio, BALLYHOO! have crafted a sound distinctly their own; fresh, fun, and embodied by the soul of the party lifestyle. Lead singer and guitarist, Howi Spangler, has a reputation for mixing slick lyrics with his smooth but powerful voice. Drummer Donald Spangler lays out the hard-hitting beats. Scott Vandrey layers in the finishing touches to the band’s signature sound on keys. The band recently welcomed Nick Lucera as their new bass player.
